125cc Rotax Junior Class Status

Included in Round 26 were five proposals from KartSport Canterbury regarding the elevation of the 125cc Rotax Max Junior class to Championship status. To avoid any misinformation/misunderstanding the following is an update following the Executive Meeting held on 18/19 May 2013. Note: 13 of 20 Clubs responded to Round 26.

1.     The Executive voted unanimously to recommend KartSport Canterbury’s Option 5 to Clubs at the National Conference in August. The adoption of a new class is rightly a matter for Clubs to decide at Conference.

2.     Assuming the class is confirmed at Conference, 125cc Rotax Max Junior will be a Tyre Restricted class (Ref Rule L3.5(a)).

3.     All of the KartSport Canterbury proposals were silent regarding  which day 125cc Rotax Max Junior should be contested on the now three programme options for the NZ Sprint Championships and the NI Sprint Championships and the now four programme options for the SI Sprint Championships. These decisions will need to be discussed/confirmed by Clubs at Conference.

4.     All of the KartSport Canterbury proposals were silent regarding the CIK Trophy of NZ. A decision regarding the addition of 125cc Rotax Max Junior (as a Challenge Cup) class to the CIK Trophy of NZ needs to be discussed/confirmed by Clubs at Conference.

5.     All of the KartSport Canterbury proposals were silent regarding the NZ Schools Championships which currently runs both Formula Junior and Junior 100cc Yamaha. A decision regarding the NZ Schools Championship classes and programme needs to be confirmed by Clubs at Conference.

6.     All of the KartSport Canterbury proposals were silent regarding the NZ Dirt Championships which currently runs both Formula Junior and Junior 100cc Yamaha. A decision regarding the NZ Dirt Championship classes and programme needs to be confirmed by Clubs at Conference.

Such matters will, as is normal, be on the Agenda for Conference discussion along with any other Rules Round Proposals referred to Conference for clarification, discussion and decision.
