ARMSTRONG SIXTH IN ITALY

Kiwi karter Marcus Armstrong enjoyed a strong run at the second round of Italy's WSK Champions Cup kart series at La Conca over the weekend, qualifying seventh and finishing the Final sixth.15wskarmstrong la conca r1a.jpg

The weekend before, at the first round of this season's WSK Champions Cup Series at the same track the 14-year-old from Christchurch who is this year driving for the works Tony Kart team, qualified 10th and finished two of the three heats in the top 15 before working his way up to 10th in the Pre-Final.

However an engine issue saw him complete only 12 of the 16 laps of the rain-lashed Final.

This weekend he carded a 10-9-17 run through the qualifying heats, ended up back in15th place in the Pre-Final, but worked his way forward from there for a breakthrough sixth spot in the Final.

"Not a bad weekend," he said on Monday, "and an improvement from last week for sure."

It was also a good weekend for Armstrong's Tony Kart team, his teammate, Dane Nicklas Nielsen, who qualified on pole before winning the first qualifying heat, the Pre-Final and the Final.
