Former National title holder Regan Carter made a successful return to karting at Kartsport Southland's Club Championships held at Invercargill Oil Shop Kart Raceway in Otatara on Sunday. southclubchamps13.jpg

Carter who has been absent for sometime took to the track in both the Open class and the Senior Yamaha Heavy class. Carter dominated the Open class from Jamie Conroy but it was the other way round  in the Yamaha class where Conroy made in a clean sweep with five wins from five starts, Carter was second and Braydon Shuttleworth finished a strong third not far behind the more experienced front runners.

Carter and Conroy were not the only ones doing double duty in the weekend, George Keast won both the Yamaha and Rotax Heavy classes.

The Cadet class was won by Jack Martinac of Dunedin, winning all five races from Ethan Tuffley and James Black also of Dunedin.

Junior Restricted was dominated by Jayde Smith who was making his debut in the class, and was impressive, an improving Larni Farquharson was second and Rebekah Michels third, Junior Yamaha was won by Jordon Michels followed by Brock Wills and newcomer Aleesha Morton third. The second and final round of the Club Championships will be held in May.
