GP3 World Champion and
Former V8 Supercar Driver
Compete in the
Annual Jon Wright Memorial Race

The annual Jon Wright Memorial incorporating the KartSport Mt Wellington ME and SVG.jpginvitational event had two superstars of motorsport competing in 2012. Current World GP3 champion Mitch Evans in Rotax Light & V8 Supercar front runner Shane Van Gisbergen competing in Rotax Heavy.

Both drivers were up against New Zealand’s finest Rotax racers at the event which celebrates karting identity and former owner of Right Karts NZ, Jon Wright who passed away in 2003.

Both Mitch Evans & Shane Van Gisbergen showed their class by setting the quickest times in qualifying to secure pole position.

Shane Van Gisbergen won the Jon Wright Memorial race in Rotax Heavy using his trusty Gis Trophy.jpgArrow AX9 B-Max and also securing 3rd place overall for the weekend’s racing which is an incredible effort considering the limited amount of karting over the last five years.

Mitch Evans was also super competitive across the weekend and won one of the four races to also finish 3rd Overall for the event.
