QUALIFYING HIGH FOR ARMSTRONG

AT FIRST WSK ROUND

Young Kiwi karter Marcus Armstrong again showed his pace at the opening round of this year's WSK Super Master Series at Pavia near Milan over the weekend.16WSKWnterCupMarcusArmstrong120-1.jpg

The 15-year-old works Tony Kart driver from Christchurch set the third quickest time in his qualifying practice session to be fifth overall heading into the races. However the Heats section of the event was cancelled due to snow and rain so it was straight into the Pre Finals in which Marcus  finished seventh in his Pre-Final and then 19th in the 34-strong field in the Final..

The four-round WSK series attracts all the top professional teams in Europe and gives drivers like Armstrong and Tony Kart team leader, three-time World Champion Marco Ardigo, a chance to get their eye in for the three-round CIK-FIA European Championships and single round CIK-FIA World KZ Championship meeting later in the year.

The combined KZ and KZ2 Final at Pavia was won by Frenchman Anthony Abbasse from Sodi Kart teammate, Dutchman Bas Lammers and Italian Paolo de Conto.

Armstrong now has ten days to prepare for the second round of this year's WSK series at Sarno near Naples over the March 19/20 weekend
