Tony Karts perform well at
National Schools

Congratulation to Kartsport Manawatu for the great job they did with this meeting, including the weather. Way better than the weather man had predicted.

Tony Kart drivers excelled in most classes with several podium positions over the weekend.14SchoolsVortexMiniROKTomGreig-1.jpg

The Tony Kart Nordix shone in the Junior Restricted and Vortex Mini Rok classes.

Junior Restricted class seaw Tom Greig, Josh Donohue, Jaden Ransley, Callum Hedge and Ethan Donohue racing. Tom Greig was the best in the Junior Restricted class with the fastest lap time in heat two, three and five. Jaden Ransley posted fastest lap in heat one. Tom was pipped at the post on a count back with Liam Lawson for the Junior Restricted Class title. Two wins and two seconds each, so came down to their worst performance to decide the title.

The Vortex Mini Rok class again saw Tony Karts at the right end of the field.  Jaden Ransley, Tom Greig, Josh Donohue, Ben Morrison and Callum Hedge all competed in the class. Heat five saw four Tony Karts in the top seven and when all the points were tallied three Tony Karts in the top five.  It could have been better with Ben Morrison showing great speed on race day. He struggled a little during testing on Friday but with a bit of advice and some changes he was on the pace. He won the first heat but unfortunately was just under weight and was DQ. Basically that was his chance gone. A very creditable seventh in the final from fifteen, and the second fastest time in that heat. Well done to Jaden 2nd, Tom 3rd, Josh 5th. Great to see that the first six engines in this class were all out of the box engines and a different winner in the first four heats. This class will definitely come down to kart, setup and driver. Congratulations to Ryan Wood and Jaden Ransley, winners of the two Vortex ROK International Finals drives in Italy.

Formula Junior saw Jacob Cranston, Bayley Walker, Bailey Paterson and Nick Evans compete.

Jacob had the best day with some very close racing up front between the fastest three. This resulted in heat five being the decider with all three competitors looking for the heat win and the title. Heat five seen Jacob managed second in trying conditions and a well-deserved second overall.

Junior Yamaha had Jacob Cranston, Brendon Jury and Zach Thompson. Jacob was very competitive with fastest lap in heat two and very close in the other heats.  A win in heat five secured a third overall for Jacob. Brendon and Zach, normally very fast at Palmerston North struggled a little on the day.

Rotax Light had Robert Burrows as the sole Tony Kart driver. A tough weekend for Robert who is very new to the sport and it was a big jump up to this level.

Well done to all the Tony Kart drivers and feel free to contact us for advice or help with setup and driver training if required.
