WADDELL TOP SCORES AT MT WELLINGTON

Sam Waddell top-scored at a rain-lashed third 2016 CRC Speedshow-sponsored Top Half kart series round at KartSport Mt Wellington's Windward Properties Raceway in Auckland on Sunday.16CRCTopHalfRnd3RotaxLightCoreyGreenlr-1.jpg

Despite weather and track conditions oscillating from cool and dry to cold and wet throughout the day Waddell won four of the five Rotax DD2 class heat races he contested and finished third in the other to end the day with 248 points, the highest tally across the  seven classes run at the meeting.

ClubSport 120 class winner Richard Macey got closest with three wins, a second and a fourth netting him 246 points while 125cc Rotax Max Heavy class winner Scott Allright was next in the points pecking order with 244 from three wins, a third and a fifth.

Corey Green remained the driver to beat in 125cc Rotax Max Light, claiming his third class win in as many rounds with a day total of 238 points from Elliott Malcolm (233) and Brad Wenzlick (232).

In the Junior classes, Joshua Parkinson claimed his second win in a row in Rotax Junior with a day tally of 240 points. Ryan16CRCTopHalfRnd3RotaxJuniorJoshuaParkiinsonlr-1.jpg Crombie also claimed his second round win in a row in Vortex Mini ROK with a score of 242 points.

It was almost too close to call, meanwhile in Cadet ROK, where Sebastian Manson and Kaden Probst ended the day tied on 242 points, the nod going to Manson on countback.

With just one more round of the 2016 series to go now it’s still too close to call in the majority of classes.

With another round win to his name Ryan Crombie has closed to within a point of Connor Davison in Vortex Mini ROK. Joshua Parkinson has also closed right up on first round winner Lee Zeltwanger in Rotax Junior, the margin between first and second now down to just three points.

Finally, there are just three points separating series leader Kaden Probst and first round winner Liam Sceats in Cadet ROK.16CRCTopHalfRnd3DD2SamWaddell81lr-1.jpg

It’s also close in the ClubSport 120 senior where Mt Wellington round runner-up Steve Muggeridge leads fellow class stalwart - and round winner at the first two rounds, Graham Knight - by just five points.

Only 125ccc Rotax Max class pace-setters Corey Green (Lights) and Caleb Hartley (Heavies) can really breathe easy. Green has a 44 point lead over Sam Waddell. while Hartley has a 24 point buffer over Simon Macrae.
