Kartsport Southland celebrated another busy race season in Invercargill on Friday night with the Annual Prizegiving for the 2011/12 season.  Prizes were given out for the overall Annual Points Championship, Most Improved Driver and the President’s Trophy for outstanding club contribution.

In the Annual Points Championship Dunedin’s Josh Bethune won the Cadet class, Zak Hamilton in his first year karting was a well deserved winner in the Junior Restricted class. Braydon Shuttleworth topped off a good season which included competing at the National Championship in Hamilton to win the Junior Yamaha class, Jamie Conroy had another season of strong results winning both the Annual Points and Club Championship trophies in the Senior Yamaha light class, in the Yamaha Heavies it was Jason Brown who came out on top after finishing equal on points with Michael Smith but won on race win count backs.

Maryanne Renton won the Masters Annual Points and Toyota Racing Series driver Damon Leitch the Annual Points Trophy for Open class.

Winton’s Luca Burns who races in the Cadet class was awarded Most Improved Driver of 2011/12 and Club Captain Aaron Murch was presented the President’s Trophy for outstanding contribution for the season.
Kartsport Southland returns to the track this Sunday with Round 2 of the Winter Series.
