SMALL FIELDS BUT QUALITY RACING

The fields were small but the racing was as closely contested at Kartsport Southlands' club day held at the Invercargill Oil Shop Kart Raceway on Sunday.

It was one of those days where the Southland weather couldn’t make its mind up what it wanted to do, which kept crews on there toes all day, changing from wet tyres to slick tyres as sun shined and showers blanketed the track in water. The majority of drivers expected at this meeting were preparing for the South Island Sprint Championships being held in Dunedin over Labour Weekend, some chose not to race at all, while others used it for a last minute shakedown before heading north.

In Cadets Luca Burns showed his class by winning all five races from Corbyn Shuttleworth who also had a solid day in second, new comer Angus Allen was third, Junior Restricted was dominated by Rebekah Michels with Zak Hamilton second followed very closely by an ever improving Larni Farquharson.

Jordon Michels won the Junior Yamaha class from Braydon Shuttleworth, while Ethan Anderson won the senior class from Graham Reid and Brad Sinclair.

The full team of drivers competing at the South Island Championships from Kartsport Southland is Luca Burns, Jayde and Corey Smith in Cadet, Braydon Shuttleworth, Jordon Michels in Junior, Jamie Conroy, Ethan Anderson in Senior Yamaha Light, George Keast, Michael Smith, Nigel Mcanelly in Senior Yamaha Heavy, Kieren Roberts, Brendon Leitch in Rotax Light, George Keast in Rotax Heavy, Jamie Conroy in KZ2 and Damon Leitch, Kieren Roberts in Open.
