DECISIONS OF THE WORLD MOTOR SPORT COUNCIL OF THE FIA REGARDING KARTING - June 2008.

At its meeting on 25 June 2008 in Paris, the World Motor Sport Council of the FIA took in particular the following decisions regarding Karting:

2009 & 2010 CIK-FIA World Karting Championships

It has been decided to grant the organisation of the 2009 CIK-FIA Karting World Championship to the ASN of Macau-China. The event will be held on the permanent Karting circuit of Coloane, in Macau, on 8-11 October 2009. It will be the 46th edition of the World Championship and the fi rst to be held on the Asian continent.

The 2010 CIK-FIA Karting World Championship will be held on 16-19 September in Spain, on the circuit of Zuera (Saragossa).

Sporting Regulations

Within the framework of the new rolling start procedure applicable in the 2008 CIK-FIA Championships, Cups and Trophies, it has been decided to increase to 50 km/h (instead of 25) the maximum authorised speed in the approach phase to the start line.

The full Sporting Regulations of the new CIK-FIA World Cup for KF3 (Juniors), to be introduced in 2009, have been approved.

As from 2009, Drivers having participated in all the events and scored at least one point in the European KZ2 Championship will be eligible for the World Cup for KZ1 of the same year.

As from 2009, the number of Drivers allowed to participate in the final event of the European KF2 and KF3 Championships will be increased to 81 (instead of 72).

2008 International Karting Series

The World Council has approved the following international Karting Series: Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, the single event of which will take place at Muro Leccese (Italy) on 27-30 November 2008.
