Brake and Accelerator Pedals |
|
|
It has been bought to our attention that a potential problem exists with the brake and accelerator pedals on some makes of karts. If the boss of the pedal is too wide (wider that the step on the stud) the nyloc nut retaining the pedal tightens against the pedal boss and not the shoulder of the stud as it should. If the nyloc nut is not in good condition or the pedal bolt is not lubricated the consequences can be :- BRAKE PEDAL. The pedal works against the nut undoing it, the result is the pedal can fall off the kart. ACCELERATOR PEDAL. The pedal works against the nut and tightens it, the result is the pedal eventually jams on full throttle. These concerns have been raised due to the problem occurring with some models of one brand of kart. PLEASE check for this on ALL KARTS to ensure that this potential problem is eliminated.
