National Board Elections

As part of each annual KartSport New Zealand National Conference, elections for the National Board are held. The positions to be voted on by delegates in attendance vary by year, with certain roles elected in odd numbered years and others elected in even years.

This year’s roles for election included:

  • Patron
  • President
  • Vice President
  • Either Island Board Member

Each of the 21 affiliated clubs are eligible to apply one vote per position being elected. Though the direction of each clubs’ votes are not recorded, with the voting slips unnamed, the overall voting results are minuted. The scrutineering of each vote was overseen by Life Member Rhod Murray and local independent David Pearce (JP).

The results of the election were as follows:

  • President – Brent Melhop (15), Richard Bethune (6)
  • Vice President – Darren Johnson (unopposed) (18-3)
  • Either Island Board Member – Mark Barnhill (15), Gareth Exton (6)
